Playing Legends of Starkadia feels like jumping right into a classic Saturday morning space cartoon. The graphics are very clean and cute, and the story of an average Earth kid getting sucked into a giant alien war instantly made me smile. The turn-based combat is easily my favorite part. Instead of just picking a skill and watching it happen, I had to actively time my button presses to block enemy lasers and power up my own sword strikes, which kept me totally hooked during fights.
Exploring Scrap World was a blast, and finding the different hidden side quests made the short map feel rewarding. I quickly unlocked a few different misfit heroes, and swapping between their unique skills in battle was super satisfying. My only real disappointment was how quickly it ended. Just when I was fully invested in the story and ready to fly to the next planet, the episode was over.
